Vilification of 'jihad' and 'halal' must be restricted, Islamic scholars requests Election Commission

 In the wake of widespread usage of Quranic terms like 'jihad' and 'halal' outside the context of the Quran to vilify Muslims must be restricted, requests Islamic scholars to the Election Commission. 

In a joint statement Islamic scholars says, it is dangerous that the secular parties are also following the practice of Hindutva groups and using these terms irresponsibly. This hurts the religious sentiments of Muslims and creates prejudice and hatred amongst other communities. 

Political parties must see to these matters with serious concerns and stay away from such unhealthy practices, the statement adds. 

Chelakkulam Abul Bushra (president of South Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama), Kadakkal Abdul Azeez Mouvlavi, (president of Kerala Muslim Jamaat Federation), Abdul Shukoor Al Qasimi (All India Muslim Personal Law Board), Muthukoya Thangal Al Bafaqi (president of South Kerala Islamic Teachers Association), E.P Ashraf Baqawi (general secretary of Sunni Youth Federation Committee) are some signatories of the joint statement.
