AMU ranked fourth best Indian University

The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has added one more golden feather to its cap by securing the fourth rank among Indian universities in the 'US News and World Report' rankings. “AMU has once again emerged as one of the foremost universities of national importance. The ranking has come at a time when the university is observing its centenary year," an official press statement noted. 


 Vice chancellor Professor Tariq Mansoor congratulated faculty members and students for the achievement for their unrelenting efforts to take the university to the zenith of success.

"The AMU fraternity is overjoyed to see that the university is steadily pushing aside the impediments caused by the Covid19 pandemic over the last several months to emerge as a top notch centre of higher learning," he added.

Prof Mansoor pointed out that AMU will march ahead with the vibrant spirit of enquiry and unflinching resolve for the future of the nation.

"AMU is proving its mettle and strength as one of the best Indian universities by constantly featuring among the top universities in the national and international rankings," said Prof M Salim Beg (Chairman, Committee for Ranking of the University).

AMU has been ranked on the basis of carefully calibrated performance indicators such as global research reputation (12.5%), regional research reputation (12.5%), publications  (10%), books (2.5%), conferences (2.5%), normalized citation impact (10%), total citations (7.5%), number of publications that are among the 10% most cited (12.5%), percentage of total publications that are among the 10% most cited (10%),  international collaboration- relative to country (5%), international collaboration (5%), number of highly cited papers that are among the top 1% most cited in their respective field (5%) and percentage of total publications that are among the top 1% most highly cited papers (5%).
