The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Alumni Association Bahrain unit virtually celebrated the Sir Syed Day, 203rd birth anniversary of the AMU founder, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan on Sunday. According to an official press statement,  former vice chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah spoke on life and works of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and 100 years of AMU.

Delivering his talk as the Chief Guest, Shah emphasised that Sir Syed's Aligarh Movement and AMU finds inseparable place in the Indian history. 

He pointed out that with the creation of AMU, a new era of educational maturity started in the Indian Sub-continent where the ignorant masses were made to understand the importance of education which later changed the political landscape of the whole Sub-continent.

The guests of honour, Mohammad Adeeb (ex- member of Parliament) and Dr Rahat Abrar (director, Urdu Academy, AMU) elaborated how AMU has been making progress in all branches of knowledge by scaling new heights of academic excellence with high standard teaching, relevant and focused research of quality, and diversity parameters.

Dr Col. Misbahuddin Ahmad delineated vision and mission of Sir Syed and various aspects of Aligarh Movement. Dr Syed Raza conducted the online programme, which was attended by Bahrain based university alumni and alumni from across the globe," said Mr Adil Inam, Executive Secretary, AMU Alumni Association Bahrain.
